Summer World History & Geography 1

Who should register: Students who took two electives during their freshman year.

Cost: $495

Dates: Monday, June 23–Thursday, July 24 (Monday–Thursday each week)

Times: 9:00–11:00 am or 12:15–2:15 pm (time is on first-come, first-served basis; selected time is not guaranteed)  

The first week all four days will be fully in person. During the remaining four weeks, Mondays and Tuesdays will be asynchronous; Wednesdays and Thursdays will be in person. On asynchronous days students are expected to complete approximately two hours of work and submit it that day. Students who do not complete the asynchronous work may be required to come in on asynchronous days to successfully complete the course.

Attendance: Any students who misses more than two classes will not be awarded credit for the course. All students MUST be in attendance for the last two in person days (July 22 and 23) to complete the final assessments.

Cadet College Bootcamp

Who should register: Rising Seniors

Cost: $100

Financial Assistance: Financial Assistance: Fee waivers are available for students who demonstrate financial need. For more information, please contact Colleen Gannon.

Dates: Monday–Friday, June 23 – 27, 2025

Time: 9:00 am–12:00 pm

Required Materials: SJC iPad

Space is limited. This bootcamp is designed for enrichment purposes only; no credit will be given for completion.

This in-person summer workshop will assist rising seniors with their college search process. Students will learn how to find their right “fit” institution, understand application platforms like the Common Application, visit local colleges and universities, participate in mock interviews with college representatives, and more! The Bootcamp will also demystify the application process for students and provide them with the confidence to advocate for themselves. 

At the end of the Bootcamp, in addition to completing the general portion of the Common Application, students will also finalize their activities list, resume, and personal information sections, along with narrowing their college list and acquiring valuable interview skills. 

This Bootcamp is designed for enrichment purposes only; no credit will be given for completion.


College Essay Workshop 

Who should register: Rising Seniors

Cost: $200

Dates: Monday, July 7–Friday, July 18

Times: 9:00–10:00 am

This two-week, virtual summer workshop will assist rising seniors in crafting their college application personal statement through a combination of synchronous Zoom instruction, supplemental pre-recorded videos, and one-on-one Zoom conferencing.

Students will practice brainstorming activities; learn the content and structure of personal writing as compared to those of expository writing; and begin drafting their own personal statement. The workshop will also introduce students to the Common Application website and other logistics of the college application process, including managing due dates and collecting required materials.  By the end of the workshop, students will have a working draft of their personal statement essay and be poised to revise and refine these drafts throughout the fall.

Incoming freshmen:

  • Boys: khaki or blue pants, belt, collared shirt, or oxford. Shirts may be short-sleeved. No jeans, shorts, T-shirts, sneakers, or flip-flops.
  • Girls: Slacks or skirts (to the knee or longer), collared shirt or oxford. Shirts may be short-sleeved. No jeans, midriff tops, T-shirts, sneakers, or flip-flops.
