Class of 2027 Mission Mass

Spiritual Life Freshman

On April 30, the Class of 2027 gathered for their Freshman Mission Mass and to sign their class mission statement.

Each year, the ninth-grade class develops its own specific mission statement—an SJC tradition since 2001. In the spring, a committee of students crafts a statement based on the unique spiritual, academic, and social qualities of their class. After meeting several times to review and revise the draft, the final product is revealed to their classmates at the Freshman Mission Mass. This year’s Freshman Mission Committee included Elizabeth Blenkle, Phillip Durant, Riley Johnson, Taylor Meringolo, Margaret Moore, Saul Santos-Coronado, Joseph Scodellaro, Jessica Taylor, Willfred Villasica, and Redeat Yiesak.

The printed mission statement signed by each freshman is then hung in Heritage Hallway. The statements of the current classes are displayed there to remind students of what they hope to accomplish, both at St. John’s and beyond. The mission statement is read annually at their class Mass and at graduation.

Class of 2027 Mission Statement

The Class of 2027 is a dedicated and outgoing community of students. We represent a developing student body preparing to live out a mission of respect, faith, service, education, and inclusivity. Each of us brings a diverse set of interests and skills inside and outside of the classroom. We strive to create a more exemplary place to learn and grow, improving our character as dynamic individuals who serve others through our Christian values. Embracing the Lasallian motto, “Enter to learn, leave to serve,” we have completely committed ourselves to our studies, athletics, arts, and service to others. Our faith guides our path as we grow from freshman year to graduation. Our class has and will continue to blossom into leaders in our respective fields.

From our first steps into St. John’s, we have been surrounded by the rich history of the school. The five Lasallian core principles inform our everyday lives and shape the choices we make. These choices present us with the chance to add to this history and leave behind our own legacy. As Cadets, we will be remembered as the class who loved one another, strengthened our community, and left St. John’s as the best versions of ourselves.
