Whole School Academic

On September 20 and 27, St. John’s honored students for their achievements during the 2020-2021 school year at the annual Academic Convocation.

Each September, St. John’s recognizes current sophomores, juniors, and seniors for their academic success during the previous school year. For the 2020-2021 year, 620 students earned Certificates of Achievement with Distinction for receiving a 3.6 GPA or higher with no grade lower than a B for the academic year. Of that group, 227 students received the San Miguel Febres Cordero Award for earning straight A’s. In addition, St. John’s Archbishop Hannan Chapter of the National Honor Society welcomed 173 new members.

One educator was also recognized at this event. St. John’s librarian Laura Turowski received the Distinguished Lasallian Educator Award, which is presented each year to a faculty member who exemplifies the ideals of St. John Baptist de La Salle. Throughout the last school year, Ms. Turowski used the library to bring students together by being a constant source of information for faculty and students and always stepping up to be a part of the team that helped guide the school through distance and hybrid learning. Each day, she strives to meet the needs of both students and faculty.

Congratulations to this year’s honorees!
